Whew....glad to finally admit it! Sometimes you ignore the things that are staring you straight in the face because it is too painful. But I took a good hard but most of all honest look today at all the items that I have purchased over the years....all with good intentions mind you...for my craft business! WOW....do I have a lot of stuff!!! Toooooo much stuff! Stuff that I told myself I needed for a project that never quite materialized. Stuff I bought because I couldnt find the stuff I bought!! No organization of my stuff and far too much of it! It all ends today!!

While I am on my road of creative and organizational self-discovery, I will also make great use of all the patterns I have purchased over the years from the many talented artisans that offer their great ideas and talents to the masses in the form of patterns! I have purchased many many patterns....wow...no wonder I am still working full time and not crafting full time!!!
Today, (heavy sigh) I am not even sure where to begin....I know I need to organize, but that might require buying more stuff in the form of storage containers, etc. lol Oh my... it feels like such a HUGE undertaking and it is overwhelming....but it must be done!! Hope you will follow my journey and offer suggestions and organizational tips! Don't forget to watch for items that I will be making from all my stuff! :) http://www.etsy.com/shop/primgirl62
Ah Dina, I'm like that, but on a smaller scale. I was just talking to hubby about making me a cupboard to organize and store my paints and supplies in. It may be painful, but it's gotta be done:) Hugs~Carol
ReplyDeleteOh Dina, I had to chuckle as I read this, oh my, I have the same illness. I promise myself that I will not buy another thing until I use what I already have. My "spot" in the basement looks like your attic. Well, I look forward to seeing where this journey of self discovery takes you. Good luck!

LMBO! You would think I wrote this!! LOL As I read through your blog I kept thinking..OMG..we are like a society of craftoholics! I totally understand where you are coming from, the same thoughts have gone through my head steadily lately. The job is ending, time to re-group and use some of the stash up! Thanks for the smiles, I needed that! Ü
ReplyDeleteDina,
ReplyDeleteI am just like you. I swore that I wouldn't go to the thrift stores again for awhile. Well...I took off to my favorite two after dropping the dogs off at the groomers. And boy, I tried not to grab everthing I saw for make-over and craft projects. But came home with 3 Huge...I mean Huge bags today. It must be that bug everywhere, I said I was gonna get organized and I am working on that this weekend..lol..if I get it done or put a dent into it.
Hang in there.

I am a member of buy-a-holic also. I use to work in a craft store.OMG what I have. Besides what I have in my house, you should see my garage. Lucky 1 car can fit in. I took pictures of one of my craft rooms, what a eye opener.I can stay out of craft stores, but not thrift shops.

I decided that I needed to do some organizing too! We got started this weekend and made a good dent, although I think I only had a 1/4 of the stuff you have. Take a deep breathe and jump in, you can do it!

I am laughing so hard at this. I've been buried underneath and next to more crafting supplies than I care to admit! LOL! I've told my family if they don't hear from me I am more than likely being held hostage in the craft room. Send chocolate and a pillow...it's gonna be awhile! I wonder if there is a Crafters Compulsive Supply Purchasers Anonymous meeting near my house. If there is... maybe the Goodwill is on the way as well as a few good yard sales.... hmmmmm

Very interesting post, well done.

Gloria K said....I could say "Diddo". Tomorrow I am going to get in my shop and "organize" because I can't work out there in the mess. Now I'm working in the house! Its good to hear that I'm not alone. But I love this business.
